Assessment & Practical Rubric
How coaching competence is assessed — through a practical, observed coaching demonstration judged against published criteria.
Learners are assessed on their ability to apply what they have learned by planning and delivering a real coaching session, scored across six weighted criteria covering planning, methodology, communication, engagement, safety and safeguarding, and reflection. Outcomes are banded as Pass with Distinction, Pass, Refer, or Not Yet Competent.
To complete the course and receive the Certificate of Attendance (30 CPD hours), a learner must achieve at least a Pass and meet the 80% attendance threshold. Reasonable adjustments are made for disabled learners, and anyone who believes an outcome is unfair may use the Learner Complaints Procedure.
